Leamington theatre begins half-a-million-pound renovation

A Leamington theatre is undergoing its biggest capital project yet, with costs expected to sit around half a million pounds.

Today (27 July) marks the first day of work at Leamington's Loft Theatre - the largest building project the theatre has undergone since it was first built.

Contractors and subcontractors will move onto the site to re-roof the theatre and replace the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

The project will be partly funded by grants and some of the theatre's reserves; the remainder of the costs will be through fundraising.

The Loft team shared: "We hope that those who enjoy live theatre at the Loft feel that they can contribute, in whatever way they can, to this major project.

"The Loft is the only independent live theatre company in Leamington, 104 years old, and this project will secure its future with everyone's help."

Whilst the theatre is closed, rehearsals will continue for the theatre's September production, 'Middle' by David Eldridge, and 'Women of Troy' in a new version by David Fletcher, which will follow in October.
