Several Leamington streets are set to become the backdrop for a new BBC detective drama, with filming in the town starting this month (August).

A BBC Studios crew will film scenes for the ten-part series The Detection Club in Clarendon Square, Portland Place West and Grove Street on Wednesday 26 August.

Filming will take place from 12.30noon to 11pm, both inside and outside properties in the area.

Set in 1930s London, the series follows crime writers Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and G.K. Chesterton as they join forces to solve real-life murders.

The trio become involved in their first case after receiving a mysterious invitation, much to the frustration of rookie detective D.I. Greenway.

The series is being filmed across the West Midlands, with BBC Studios handling global sales.

The BBC previously said the drama was part of its commitment to reinvest funding from the cancelled soap Doctors into new scripted programming made in the West Midlands.

Locations across the region, including Warwickshire, have been scouted for the production since 2025.

Leamington has previously welcomed TV crews, with its Regency streets and period architecture featuring in BBC mystery drama Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators.
