Leamington Rugby Club gains approval for new lighting posts
By Nadia Sayed 20th Mar 2026
Plans for the installation of six high lighting posts at Leamington Rugby Club have been approved.
The plans also include six new luminaires, which will help provide "adequate" lighting to the second pitch of the Rugby Club, located at Moorfields on Leamington Road.
The lightning posts will be 15m high.
Currently, the site ix established as community Rugby Sports club and has been from the early 20th century.
The site combines facilities for a local netball team, football training, Rugby Union and Rugby League training and matches.

According to the planning documents, plans are to "ensure the continuation of this facility and to ensure there is sufficient playing surfaces and capacity to accommodate the growing demand from the community to access suitable sporting facilities."
Approving the plans, Warwick District Council (WDC) shared permission for the plans to go ahead must be done under the terms that the pitch is un use and only between the hours of 9am and 9.30pm.
This is to "protect the rural character and appearance of the area" and to protect "the residential amenity of neighbouring residents."
