Leamington court issues tough sentences for Warwickshire drivers with recurrent speeding violations

Three drivers caught speeding multiple times in Warwickshire have been banned for a total of 21 months and fined almost £3,000 at Leamington Magistrates Court.
The drivers, who failed to change their behaviour, were issued fines and driving bans on 19 August.
Warwickshire Police confirmed all of the drivers claimed hardship, "hoping to avoid a ban", but this was not accepted in allcases "due to their repeat offending."
The drivers were all caught speeding in February this year, in 30mph or 40mph speed limits.
One driver from Tamworth had claimed exceptional hardship twice before; however, police informed the court that he'd just been captured speeding again in June.
He was disqualified for 9 months, fined £1000 and received four points.
Another driver from Studley was caught speeding twice in February and received a 6-month ban, 6 points and 4 points for the two offences and a £923 fine.
The third driver from Stratford-on-Avon was banned for 6 months, fined £1000 and given 5 points on his licence.
Warwickshire Police said: "Over 50 percent of fatal collisions involve speed as a factor. To make our roads safer, the behaviour of every driver matters.
"Please always drive within the speed limit and at an appropriate speed for the conditions."
