Plans to replace a Leamington bungalow with a taller four-bedroom home have led to several objections over concerns that it could affect a neighbour's solar panels.

The application, which concerns a property on Leicester Street in Leamington, would see the demolition of the existing bungalow replaced with a new-build dwelling "to improve the layout and thermal performance of the building and create additional living space, turning it into a two-storey house."

The application has received eight objections, with a key concern being that the development would increase the property's height by 1.4 metres.

Residents have highlighted the additional height and massing could reduce sunlight reaching the solar panels at a neighbouring property.

There were also concerns in relation to the "submitted solar study and methodology, alternative designs to provide additional floor space, loss of winter sunlight from a window which serves the habitable room of 121 Leicester Street."

One support comment was received, noting how the proposal is considered to be "well designed and enhances the street scene."

However, Warwick District Council officers have recommended the plans for approval after an independent assessment concluded the development would have a negligible impact on the neighbouring solar array.

The application is due to go before Warwick District Council's Planning Committee on Tuesday 11 August.
