Latest update on A46 Stoneleigh Junction works
By James Smith 31st May 2026
Warwickshire County Council has released its latest update on the over-budget and much-delayed A46 Stoneleigh Junction redevelopment.
Originally due to be finished in the summer 2022, work resumed on site at the start of 2026.
The project - which is now set to cost considerably more than the £38 million originally approved - is due for completion in 2027.
The latest update from the local authority said: "The structural works are progressing well, with the recent completion of the final set of stub walls.
"The joints between structures have been installed and sealed.
"We are infilling the areas in between the wingwall bases with 6N material to form a flat surface for the temporary works for the wingwall formwork.
"This infill materials is laid and compacted in 200mm layers, which the compaction testing showed is sufficient for our needs.
"We are progressing on target to pour the remainder of the wingwalls this summer."
This weekend's Stoneleigh Road bridge closure was postponed by the council.
Others have been scheduled for:
- 26 June and 29 June 2026
- 3 July and 6 July 2026
- 25 July and 26 July 2026
These closures are in order to "safely carry out essential works associated with the scheme".
