The Greggs store on Parade in Leamington Spa has temporarily closed its doors while it undergoes refurbishment.

Despite local speculation suggesting the closure was linked to security concerns, the bakery chain has confirmed the move is simply part of a planned refresh.

Speculation regarding the closure comes as several Greggs stores across the country are making changes to tackle shoplifting, including moving self-serve food and drink items behind the counter.

However, a spokesperson has confirmed this is not the case for the Leamington branch.

A Greggs spokesperson said: "We've closed the doors of our Leamington Spa shop for a short period while we give it a refresh."

"The new and improved shop will return to usual service when it reopens to customers on 26 June."
