Police investigating the death of a man found in a Leamington river have released several murder suspects on bail and are appealing for fresh information.

The body of Adam Lucas was recovered from the river in Victoria Park around 7.45am on Wednesday 15 April.

A post-mortem carried out on 16 April found that Adam, who was in his 50, died as a result of injuries consistent with an assault.

Five arrests were made in connection with his Adam's including:

• A 27-year-old man from Birmingham arrested on suspicion of murder, who has now been bailed.

• A 23-year-old woman from Birmingham arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She was also subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed.

• A 44-year-old woman from Leamington and a 43-year-old man from Leamington - both arrested on suspicion of murder – who have since been bailed.

A 53-year-old man from Leamington arrested on suspicion of murder was released with no further action (NFA).

Detective Inspector Gareth Unett said: "We're really keen to work out where Adam went and what he did in the hours before he died and we're urging anyone with fresh information to get in touch.

"We're confident someone knows what happened and may not yet have come forward. We understand they may have concerns about speaking to police, but we'd urge them to speak to us we can help get justice for what happened to Adam.

"Did you see or hear anything that might help us understand how Adam died? Do you know where he was in the eight hours before he was found, do you know why Adam might have been assaulted, who by or can you think of anyone he might have spoken to during those times? No matter how small or insignificant it seems, your information could prove to be the crucial piece that helps us work out what happened to him."
