UPDATE: Busy Leamington road reopens after closure due to flooding
By Nadia Sayed 16th Dec 2025
A busy Leamington road has now re-opened after being closed due flooding.
Princes Drive in the town was closed off this morning (16 December) due to carriageway flooding.
The water around Princes Drive has now been cleared, with the road schedule to be re-opened by Warwickshire Police from around 3.30pm onwards.
WCC said: "Thank you for your patience whilst the matter was resolved"
The flooding caused a vehicle to get stuck in the water.
A signed diversion route was put in place.
It follows several issues with flooding on the road and attempts to resolve the issue including works on Sunday (14 December).
Despite this, the issue still remains.
In response to the flooding, the local group Leamington Society has said it is awaiting the drain maintenance records and, "given the lack of progress, we will now be writing to Warwickshire County Council's Portfolio Holder for Transport and Planning."
It added: "We appreciate that these frequent updates may test people's patience, but the repeated, unplanned road closures cause significant disruption—particularly during the busy pre-Christmas period -so we feel it is important to keep pressing for a proper solution."
