Environmental health objects as Leamington chicken shop applies to stay open into early hours

Environmental health officers have objected to an application for a Leamington Spa chicken shop to stay open into the early hours of the morning.
Perfinos has applied to vary its licence, looking to stay open until 2am Monday to Thursday and until 4am on weekends.
The application is due to go before Warwick District Council's licensing and regulatory panel next week, but environmental health officers have said the change would cause too much noise for the neighbouring flats on Warwick Street.
"Whilst I appreciate that the premises is situated in Leamington town centre with other licensed premises operating until similar hours, Perifino's itself is surrounded by residential accommodation, including flats directly above the takeaway," the objection said.
"I also appreciate that the business is looking to attract customers coming out of other local licensed premises.
"However, I would have concerns with regards to noise of customers arriving, departing and/or congregating outside the premises.
"I would be particularly concerned about the noise from raised voices, especially if they have just come out of a loud club environment."
Documents to be discussed by councillors next week also show Perfinos has agreed to have security on site from 10pm until closing time, following discussions with Warwickshire Police.
A decision will be made on Tuesday 7 April.
