Plans for 46 new retirement flats in Heathcote have been forced through, following a public inquiry.

McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd last year saw an application for the three-storey building at Harbury Lane refused by Warwick District Council.

The scheme received multiple objections from residents, local councillors and Bishops Tachbrook Parish Council.

McCarthy and Stone then submitted an appeal to the planning inspectorate, to have the decision overturned.

And following an inquiry in August, the application was waived through.

The main issues surrounding the development were whether it would provide "satisfactory living conditions" for residents and whether it would contribute enough to local infrastructure.

A report confirming the appeal was allowed said neither were enough to prevent planning permission being granted.

Plans show the development would provide 29, one-bed and 17, two-bed apartments.

It will be built next to the existing Oakley Grange care home, but would be on land that was originally earmarked for community facilities.
