Council proposes 20mph speed limit for several Leamington roads

Warwickshire County Council is proposing to introduce a 20mph speed limit to certain roads in Leamington Spa.
Cllr Will Roberts, with the support of Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire County Council Traffic & Road Safety Team is in full agreement with the proposals to change the speed limit to 20mph throughout the area.
In the cited reasons for the new speed limits, the Council said: "Recent speed surveys carried out in the Village support a 20mph speed limit.
"The reduced speed limit will help to improve the environment for vulnerable road users, such as Wheelchair users, Pedestrians and Pedal Cyclists.
"Motorists will be travelling at a slower speed, reducing noise and vibration, and this will give a reduction in vehicle emissions.
"The scheme will involve the use of speed-reducing traffic signs and road markings throughout, with Gateway Signage at the entry point to the estate where possible."
Badgers Retreat except between the area of public footpath and Chesterton Drive for 70.87 metres north from its Junction with St Fremund Way.
