Two local charities have received almost £12,000 after bereaved families supported the recycling of orthopaedic implants at Leamington crematorium.

The Brunswick Hub and The Myton Hospices were each presented with £5,895 from the scheme.

Funds were raised from donations from bereaved families allowing the recycling of orthopaedic implants from Oakley Wood Crematorium.

The money earned from recycling these materials was donated to Cllr Naveen Tangri's two chosen charities from his time as Chairman of Warwick District Council for 2025/26.

Cllr Tangri shared: "I'm delighted to see that these donations have been made to two very important charities in the district.

"I chose The Myton Hospices because of the outstanding care, compassion and support it provides to individuals with terminal illnesses and their families across our community.

"I chose Brunswick Hub because of its outstanding commitment to supporting residents and strengthening our community. The Hub provides a welcoming and inclusive space where residents of all ages can access practical support, advice, wellbeing activities and opportunities to connect with others. Its work helps reduce isolation, promotes community spirit and improves the lives of many individuals and families.

"Both charities rely heavily on the generosity of the community, so I felt it was important to support their invaluable work and help raise awareness of the difference they make."

Ruth Freeman, CEO of The Myton Hospices, added:"We are incredibly grateful to Councillor Tangri for arranging this generous donation from Oakley Wood Crematorium. Support like this makes a real difference, helping us continue providing specialist care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses and their families across Coventry and Warwickshire.

Dawn Johnston-Smith, Centre Manager at Brunswick Healthy Living Centre, further added: "We are really grateful for this donation and to Naveen Tangri for the nomination, the money will make a big difference to the services we provide to the local community which includes our bereavement support service and supporting families with specific needs.
