A bank chain in Leamington is seeking permission to refurbish its branch, including internal alterations and updated branding as part of its Work Café concept.

Plans have been submitted to change Santander, located on Parade.

According to a heritage statement, the majority of the proposed works would take place inside the building and involve alterations to banking hall areas, customer rooms, administrative spaces and staff facilities across the ground, first and second floors.

The external changes would include replacing the existing fascia signs with Santander's updated branding, installing Work Café graphics on shopfront windows and replacing two digital media screens with a single new screen.

Planning documents state that the visual impact of the proposed external works would be "minimal" and would not significantly alter the building's appearance due to the small-scale nature of the changes.

The heritage statement adds that "the colour scheme has been thought about and is sympathetic to the building itself, surrounding buildings and the area.

"Being a Grade II listed building within a conservation area, the proposed internal and external works are an opportunity to restore and protect the building. The application argues that the refurbishment would help modernise the branch while providing an opportunity to preserve and protect the historic building for future years."
