Are you ready to play a vital role in protecting critical national infrastructure? We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Response Officer to join a leading UK energy organisation. If you have a passion for emergency planning and thrive in high-pressure environments, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

About the Role

As a Response Officer, you'll be at the forefront of emergency preparedness, helping to ensure the organisation is ready to respond to extraordinary incidents-from gas leaks and explosions to cyber threats. This role is not about business continuity; it's about incident response and resilience.

You'll design and deliver training programmes, coordinate emergency exercises, and support the development of tools and procedures that enable effective response. You'll also work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure a joined-up approach to incident management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive training and exercising programme for operational (Bronze) and tactical (Silver) response teams.
  • Lead emergency exercises and embed lessons learned into future planning.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure a coordinated approach to incident response.
  • Represent the organisation in industry forums and stakeholder engagements.
  • Develop and maintain response tools, facilities, and procedures.
  • Support the evolution of emergency arrangements in line with future energy systems, including hydrogen transition.
  • Participate in incident response activities, including outside normal business hours when required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in emergency planning, ideally within a Category 1 or 2 responder agency.
  • Knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act, JESIP, or relevant safety legislation (eg, COMAH, PSR, GSMR).
  • Strong understanding of incident preparedness and planning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; additional tools will be taught internally.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications in emergency planning or business continuity.
  • Experience in the energy sector (gas, electricity, water) is a plus but not essential.

Why Apply?

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the resilience of the UK's energy infrastructure and shape the future of emergency response. Whether you're a recent graduate in emergency planning or an experienced responder, we want to hear from you.

Please note: Due to the high volume of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted. If you do not hear from us within 48 hours, unfortunately, your application has not been successful on this occasion. However, we may retain your details for future suitable vacancies.
