We're currently recruiting on behalf of a respected, multi-office accountancy practice based in Warwickshire, which is looking to appoint a VAT Specialist / Assistant Manager to join their growing team.

This firm has a strong reputation for its client service and internal culture and they're now looking for someone with solid VAT experience to step into a pivotal role-reviewing returns, supporting junior team members and acting as an indirect tax point of contact internally.

This can be fully remote for the right candidate, hybrid working is also available, of course!

What you'll be doing:

  • Preparing and reviewing VAT returns to ensure accuracy and timeliness
  • Overseeing filings to HMRC
  • Reviewing work completed by junior team members and providing constructive feedback
  • Managing a diverse client portfolio, ensuring each client's indirect tax obligations are met
  • Collaborating with the wider team to troubleshoot queries and offer practical, technical advice
  • Monitoring client workflows
  • Ad hoc work as required - including project work and client queries.

What we're looking for:

  • A strong background in VAT compliance - you know your reverse charges from your partial exemptions
  • A sharp eye for detail, analytical mindset and the ability to spot inconsistencies
  • Experience with any accounting and tax software (eg. Xero, Sage, IRIS, TaxCalc or similar)
  • Previous experience reviewing the work of others - we're looking for someone thorough and helpful
  • A confident communicator who can break down tax complexities for colleagues and clients alike.

The role: This role will be instrumental in consolidating and preparing contract data for migration into a new digital procurement platform, with a particular focus on Ivalua and Legacy systems, including Ariba, SharePoint, and various supplier web portals. Responsibilities: Lead the collation, cleansing, and structuring of contract data from multiple sources (Ariba, SharePoint, supplier portals, etc.) to create a centralised, migration-ready repository. Support the transition to Ivalua by aligning contract metadata and documentation with system requirements, ensuring data integrity and compliance with internal governance. Utilise Ivalua's collaborative authoring tools to manage contract templates, clause libraries, and version control, ensuring consistency and legal compliance. Work closely with category managers, finance, legal, DD&T, Vendor Management Team (VMO), and suppliers to gather missing data, validate contract terms, and resolve discrepancies. Identify opportunities to streamline contract life cycle processes and support the development of standard operating procedures for contract management in the new system. Requirements: Proven experience in procurement contract management within a digitally transforming organisation. Hands-on experience with Ivalua and SAP Ariba, particularly in Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) modules. Strong understanding of data migration principles and contract metadata structures. Familiarity with public procurement frameworks and compliance requirements. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, Power BI, especially for data manipulation and document formatting. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
